Hi! I'm Sky (they/them). I'm an energetic and enthusiastic person who loves connecting people and ideas, and lately that's meant going all-in on the things closest to my heart: projects around queer identity and the creative community space called Spots.
In a world where as a queer person you aren't always seen or heard, I believe it's important to create space for queer stories and experiences. Being queer is not all of me, but it's what I'm most proud of, and it's a lens through which I perceive the world around me. Coming to terms with my own queer identity and finding community around me has helped me become more myself, and so I want to create more queer representation and connection through the art and projects I make.
Besides my work around queerness, I'm the co-creator of Spots, a creative community space in Breda. Spots is a place where we invite people to connect, create and be curious. We believe participation should be easy and inclusive, at a place where anyone can show up, experiment and join in. Here we organise a diverse range of low-threshold, participatory activities designed to strengthen cohesion, spark creativity and encourage curiosity.
Spots gives me the opportunity to connect and make impact locally, whereas my work around queerness can live anywhere and everywhere. My background is in social innovation, where I learned how to tackle complex social issues and develop solutions that actually stick. During my studies, I specialized in facilitating processes, building communities, and creating meaningful experiences. These are elements that I use through all of my work.
